Abstract
The connected and autonomous car will revolutionize the automotive and transportation industry. While fully autonomous and driverless vehicles are over 5 years away OEMs are rapidly deploying new technology to support this roadmap including driver assist and semi-autonomous functionality.As cars become connected to the outside environment new architectural designs to ECUs that connect various subsystems together and expose them to the outside world over various networks increasing the threat surface. Safety and security are the must be addressed to enable market adoption.
It is essential to establish a chain-of-trust from product design to manufacturing and from the hardware through to the software into the end product. This session examines foundational security requirements for a hardware-based approach to secure the connected car and methods to inject cryptographic elements into the ECUs early in production for an end-to-end integrated and flexible security solutions.
